📜 Historical Background
Junagarh Fort was built in 1594 by Raja Rai Singh, a general in Emperor Akbar’s army. Unlike most forts in Rajasthan, it is not built on a hilltop but stands proudly in the heart of Bikaner city. Despite its ground-level location, the fort was never conquered, a testament to its formidable defenses and strategic design.
The fort complex reflects a blend of Rajput, Mughal, and Gujarati architectural styles, with later additions by successive rulers over centuries.
